Emerald Pool, a magical pond in the middle of the forest in Krabi
query_builder 1 October 2021

Emerald Pool is a hot spring that arose from warm water streams in southern Thailand's lowland forests. Temperatures range from 30 to 50 degrees Celsius. It is a beautiful clear pool in the middle of the forest with crystal pure, bluish-green water.  The hot spring is divided into 3 pools, namely Sa Kaeo, Sa Morakod and Sa Namphut and surrounded by lush green forest.

To get to the emerald pool, you have to walk about 800 meters from the parking lot. Alternatively, you could take another route that is a natural trail. This route is about 2.7 kilometers away, but no matter where you go, you'll end up at the same emerald pool. When entering the pool, it is recommended that you use the conventional path to the pool and use the nature trail route on the way back. The nature trail route is shaded with trees. You can find rare birds like Gurney's Pitta, Rufous-collared Kingfisher, and Black hornbill wandering around the area.

Next destination is the Sa Phut, which is the source of the Emerald Pool. Sa Phut is a small natural basin located in the district Khao Phanom Bencha National Park. It is a natural pool with a lot of minerals making the water appear to be bluish-blue when reflected with light. In the pool, there are bubbles erupting above the water, apparently due to water leaking out of the ground. Admission costs are 10 baht for Thai children, 20 baht for adults, 100 baht for overseas children, and 200 baht for adults. Open every day from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
